We will steer you through the complexities of finding a home in a new country, by making you aware of the various kinds of housing options that we have available, by taking you on a tour of the choice residential areas and highlighting the positive and negative aspects of each, personally conducting a thorough search for your ideal home, negotiating the best terms with the home owners on your behalf, co-coordinating the administration with regard to the lease agreement and the relevant costs, carrying out an inventory inspection and ensuring your new home is clean and ready for your occupation.
Should you wish to first come for a preview trip to choose your home for you and your family before making the final move to South Africa, then we will too, be at your side for every step of the way.
We will:
- Source properties according to all requirements, including budget.
- Make comparisons of the various housing options in South Africa, preferred areas and costs.
- Collect you and your family from your hotel and accompany you to view various homes sourced by Stepping South, according to your pre-determined requirements.
- Conduct a trial run of the route between short-listed homes and office, while Stepping South gives details of the highways and by-ways. This will help you feel more confident about the infrastructure in Gauteng, as well as ascertain distances and travel times in and out of peak traffic.
- Negotiate the lease and all administration involved, including the co-ordination of deposits and continuous liaison in this regard.
- Conduct a full inventory inspection with or without you.
- Assist you in opening bank accounts, post boxes, mobile phones, home telephone connection and satellite television.
- Introduce maids, nannies, gardeners or any other household services, if required.
- Assist you with furniture, appliance and grocery shopping.
- Conduct a full exit inspection, inventory, utility disconnection and return of deposit at end of lease period.

Low or high-rise apartment blocks for the individual professional.

Some older apartments still have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, but mostly 1 and 2 bedrooms. The newer ones were built with the young executive in mind - modern, sophisticated, central and "lock-up-and-go". Open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge, and balcony. Most of the apartments are guarded by 24 hour security and have community facilities such as swimming pool, tennis court, bar, restaurant and gym. The attraction of these apartments is their professional tenants, proximity to the office, the abundance of shops, restaurants, clubs and a variation of other entertainment, within a vibrant atmosphere. Many of these have a fully furnished and equipped option. |

| CLUSTER HOMES |

These are houses within a security complex, ranging from 6 to around 20 houses within an enclosed and secure area. The houses are all the same and are usually smaller than the free standing houses. Access is controlled through an intercom system / remote control or security guards. Some of these have communal swimming pools and tennis courts. Others have their own small private gardens and private swimming pools, but these are very small - they are what we call "splash pools".

These are large developments, in which "free standing" homes are built. These are characterised by the tightest security, golf courses, communal swimming pools, sports facilities, beautiful gardens and lakes - all within a fully secured and fenced-off suburb. The houses themselves vary in style and size, from Tuscan to Colonial. Access is controlled through an intercom system / access cards and a security guard service.

Usually 3/4 bedrooms with 2 or more bathrooms. Some have separate kitchens, dining rooms and lounges, while others have the kitchen, dining room and lounge all in one open plan room. These are similar to the clusters, but are smaller, more attached to their neighbours and more units per enclosure, up to 160 in some complexes. Typically 2 bedrooms. The gardens are minute and no private swimming pools. Suited to the individual professional who does not wish for much space.

Old, as well as modern homes characterized by high walls. This type of housing is becoming obsolete as the houses are being torn down to make space for security complexes. The free standing house is only an option when fully secured with alarm system, closed circuit television cameras, all round electric fencing, and preferably a security guard.
